High Court blow for firefighters
FIREFIGHTERS moved a step closer to striking after their union lost a key judicial review over new Government rules for pensions.
Bosses at the Fire Brigade Union claims the changes are leaving badly injured and disabled firefighters without a pension.
Deputy High Court Judge Michael Supperstone QC made the decision today that the new rules on ill-health pensions are lawful.
The changes mean firefighters could now have their pensions frozen until they reach the age of 60 if they are seriously injured.
