Mixed fortunes at the county championships

There were mixed fortunes for Clacton teams in the Essex County Table Tennis Inter-League Championships held last weekend at Harlow.

The mens and junior A teams faced stiff opposition and finished fourth and fifth respectively in thier divisions, but there was success for the junior B team who topped their division.

In the men's division one, Neil Crook, John Pattrick, Felipe Rodriguez, Colin Stallwood and Gary Young lost three and won one match, their only victory being a 6-4 success against Southend.

It was little surprise in the junior division one that, with Mark Smith and David North unavailable, the Clacton A team of Peter Hall, Carl Fenner, Daniel Prior and Matthew Wright finished bottom.

But it's congratulations to the Clacton B side of Sam Buxton, Lewis McKenny, Daniel Wright and James Denyer who topped the junior division two with a draw against Southend B, and two wins, 7-3 over Colchester B, and 9-1 over Ilford B.
